Macro (Close Up)










Black Background- Low key

Used a  DSLR with a 50mm lens with extension tubes

Extension tubes:
They are fixed length spacers that fit between the camera and lens. They can be stacked together to provide more extension for longer focal length lenses,

Reproduction ratio = focal length of lens/amount of extension

Key points to focus on:
-The Subject
-Depth of Field
-Lighting
-Exposure

Macro is Greek word for Long+Large

True Macro- 1:1
Macro image magnification is often defined in terms of a ratio

Low key lighting- Dark Background

High key lighting- Pure white Background

200 iso    (Film speed)

1/60 Stutter speed

  • Middle lamp is model lamp
  • Outside lamp more expensive 


Health&Safety 

  • Do not put mains on when plastic cap is on
  • Don't Touch the bulb 
  • Don't Leave bulb exposed, out for damage
  • Don't look at the light when its flashed

Scanning

How to Scan picture into a Mac:

1. Turn on Scanner and connect to Mac

2. Launch Adobe Photoshop

3. Click on File - Import - Images from device

Make sure:

Resolution - 300dpi
Auto Section - Off
Scan to Documents
Format: JPEG

1. Images face down on the glass always

2. Overview scan the photo or picture

3. Then Scan

Saving at Max Quality (12)

1. Turn on enlarger

2. Change the timer to 3 seconds for a tester strip

3. Check the filters are at 0

4. Check the light works 

5. Get a test strip

6. Cover a little bit of the tester strip and reveal for 3 seconds 

7. Keep doing it till you cover the test strip

8. Put the strip in the developer for 2 minutes and agitate it as well

9. Put in the stop bath for 30 seconds 

10. Then put it in the fix for 5 minutes

11. 10 minutes in the wash

12. Take it in to the light and check how many seconds you need to expose it for the next photogram you do

13.Repeat the process on your next photogram and change the seconds if you need too


Safety In the dark room:

- Bags and coats stored safely under the benches
- Wash Hands because of chemicals
- If splash in the eye, wash with water straight away
- No food or drink while in the room
- Breaks regularly to prevent headaches
